Every year Martin Foley MP sponsors a prize in the Linden Postcard Show called ‘The Member for Albert Park Award’. The prize is awarded to a local artist who produces a work that in some reflects the local community in which we all live. The artwork on the cover of the birthday cards that martin sends out to constituents on their notable birthdays (18th, 21st, 30th, 40th etc) is the winner of that award. In this way we can all be proud of this creative community, and enjoy a product of it.
The Linden Postcard show is an open entry award exhibition featuring small format contemporary work. The Postcard Show is launched during The St Kilda Festival (at the start of February) and runs for about a month. The first Postcard Show was held in 1991 and it has since become a prominent event in the Australian cultural calendar.
Linden – Centre for Contemporary Arts is a unique not for profit contemporary art gallery located in the heart of St Kilda on vibrant Acland Street. Housed in a significant historical building, Linden is a place where people can see contemporary art in an informal and friendly environment.

St Kilda resident Anna Griffiths was one of the Postcard Winners with her piece titled 'Bestiary IV'
Every year local residents make a mental calendar note to enter the competition, but often miss the entry form deadline (actual works do not have to be submitted until January 2012). Entry Forms must be completed and returned by by 5pm Monday 21 November 2011. So don’t miss out this (next) year, it could be YOUR year to win. Download the entry form here:
More about the Linden Postcard Show
This show is Linden’s annual fundraising activity for the year with all money raised, through entry fees and sales, going directly towards Linden’s exhibition programs.
The Postcard Show also gives artists the chance to show and sell their work in a popular exhibition in a major contemporary art space – that visitors love!
The Postcard Show derives its name from the tradition of selecting six works to be reproduced and sold as Linden postcards.
All works entered must not be larger than 30cm x 30cm x 30cm.
Entry must be completed by 5pm Monday 21 November 2011
